Read the version boundary precisely
Android 7.0 and older are below API 25 and unsupported by the current official APK. Android 7.1, 7.1.2, 8 and 8.1 meet the minimum, but vehicle testing remains pending.
Android 9 uses a firmware-dependent legacy Wi-Fi Direct path and generated group credentials; the requested frequency is unverified. Android 10+ keeps actual-frequency verification, but firmware must still implement the required APIs.
Android 7.x has no system local-only hotspot. Use the car hotspot, Wi-Fi Direct or an external shared network. The removed Local hotspot option is not a current setup step.
Check the actual hardware and firmware
Confirm that APK installation is allowed. Check CPU architecture, Wi-Fi hardware, Bluetooth implementation, decoder and USB data capability. Joining a 5 GHz network does not prove that the radio can create a 5 GHz Wi-Fi Direct group.
Record the exact iPhone/iOS, firmware and app version. Picture, touch, music, navigation voice, Siri, calls and reconnection need separate checks; a brand name or similar model does not establish compatibility.
Keep release lines separate
The current official release is 0.2.19, package com.shihab.diplay. Legacy ports and brand adaptations have independent packages, signatures, builds and evidence. They are not universal upgrade packages.
An in-place update requires the same package/variant and certificate. Download collections do not install themselves; official in-app GitHub updates need a network and Android performs installation.
Current guidance and historical evidence
This page describes 0.2.19. Earlier Android 9/10 requirements remain in version history and must not be applied to the current APK; a new minimum does not retroactively support older releases.
Work while parked. Reproduce unresolved problems on 0.2.19 and export a fresh report. Source fixes, automated checks and individual contributor reports do not validate a complete release on every head unit.
